Providing an entire nation with 100% Green Energy as early as 2030

The Nordic Council Environment Prize 2015 goes to the Faroese electricity company SEV for its ambitious targets and innovation. SEV’s work is not only important for the phasing in of renewable energy in the Faroe Islands, but also for the European grid as a whole.

Welcome to 100by2030

On the 70th anniversary of the Faroese national energy provider SEV, you can attend the 100by2030 Renewable Energy Summit.

2 days in breathtaking surroundings to experience how a 100% green energy future is not only feasible – it is also achievable.

We are aiming high and getting there

In a year where the overall green energy level was 60% in the isolated grid on the Faroe Islands, SEV reached several peaks of 100% green energy.

100% certainly is within our grasp.

Internationally acclaimed work

In 2015 SEV’s ambitious goal of reaching 100% renewable energy by 2030 caught the attention of the Nordic Council and resulted in the winning of the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize 2015.

Join us in September to be inspired. Read on and register today.

Excursion to Húsahagi

The very first of its kind in Europe, SEV's wind farm with its connected battery storage system plays a major part in the shift from fuel oil power to renewable energy in the Faroes.

 CLIMATE EXPERT

The climate on the planet Earth has always been changing, but presently the speed of changing is so fast that nature cannot adapt.  The weather will be more extreme in some areas and Faroe Islands could be among them.

Toward a greener future

going 100% green by 2030: a realistic approach

2015 saw the most significant developments ever in the transformation of Faroese energy production. All energy in the Faroe Islands will come from renewable sources by 2030, declares energy provider.

Faroese public energy provider SEV produced 60% of all energy in the Faroe Islands from water and wind in 2015. Also, the company was awarded the Nordic Environment Prize for its efforts in making the Faroe Islands one of the few societies in the world running entirely on renewable energy. That goal is by no means achieved yet. However, several big steps have been taken towards a greener future, the most significant of which is a wind farm and battery storage system completed in Húsahagi, near Tórshavn, last year.
